September 11 isn’t a national holiday yet, nor is it an anniversary of something we’d like to remember (or are likely to forget). But like Memorial Day and Veterans Day, it’s a day of honoring the loss and sacrifice of those who fell in war—a war they weren’t aware was underway until it was too late.
The heroes of that day include those who lost their lives in the attacks, those who responded to the attacks with help and even those who continued to help and support search, recovery and site-clearing efforts. More heroes can be found in those who administer and support foundations to care for the families affected by the attacks.
As much as September 11 is noted for what we lost as a nation, it can also be seen as a day to mark our determination not just to survive but to rebuild and come back stronger. In the 10 years since the attacks, we’ve also had to rebuild our economy in the wake of financial desolation. And it might have taken longer than we’d like, but we are starting to come back stronger from that, too.
So it’s actually rather appropriate that National Staffing Employee Week starts the day after September 11. After all, staffing has led the job growth we’ve seen in the past couple of years. When a company needs to rebuild after a natural disaster, they call on staffing to provide temporary labor. “Coming back stronger” is what staffing is all about.
COATS Staffing Software honors everyone who has helped America rebuild, then and now, including the staffing firms that continue to lead our economic recovery. You’re heroes to us.
