COATSsql version 4.6.0 was released last month, and its main feature is the new ACA tools we’ve created to help you manage these tough new regulations. The tools are still in beta, meaning that we’ll likely make some changes before the final version. So we’d especially like to hear your feedback on them!
Large Employer Calculator
This tool determines if your company is an Applicable Large Employer (ALE) and thus required to comply with the ACA Employer Mandate in 2015 with 100 or more FTEs or in 2016 with 50 or more FTES. It shows the total hours and FTEs for every month within a selected date range, and calculates the average FTE based on the month’s reflecting figures. Access requires COATS System administrator security.
ACA Eligibility Estimates
Once you’ve determined that you’re an ALE, this tool helps determine the number of current Full Time Equivalent (Non-Variable) Employees to offer insurance or pay the penalty for. It was created to generate figures that can be used with the ASA Calculator to determine if you should PAY or PLAY. It also shows which clients have the most FTEs, which can help with billing issues.
Health Census
This report can be sent to the employer broker to show all confirmed employees within the system, regardless of eligibility. For an employee to be eligible for benefits, they must have reached the entered hours within the selected time frame. You can select a 3-, 6-, 9- or 12-month range to determine eligibility (the 12-month range is the default).
Eligible Health Census
This report can be sent to the employer broker to show all confirmed and eligible employees within the system. Just like the Health Census report, you can select a 3-, 6-, 9- or 12-month range to determine eligibility (the 12-month range is the default).
