A King Cake is part of the grand tradition of Mardi Gras in New Orleans; it’s like a great big cinnamon roll covered in icing in the traditional Mardi Gras colors: purple, gold and green. Inside the cake is a trinket, usually a tiny plastic baby, and if your piece of the cake contains that baby, you’re crowned King (or Queen) of the Day!
Our lucky winner is Andrea Whitney, our systems support and training specialist at COATS. (It’s a good thing Andrea found the baby in her cake before swallowing it; look how tiny that thing is!)
Andrea is now Queen of the Day, and we’re working to find a crown somewhere around the office for her to wear. We’re also waiting until the end of her reign to inform her that she now has to provide next year’s King Cake. Hey, we don’t make these rules…
Happy Mardi Gras from COATS!
