This weekend, COATS volunteers will help build a playset for a 4-year-old named Emma who’s fighting leukemia, via the Roc Solid Foundation‘s Play It Forward program. Click here to see a video of her talking with her mom (video is hosted on Facebook), and you’ll understand why we’re looking forward to giving her a nice surprise.
The Roc Solid Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging and promoting one of the best cancer-fighting forces on earth: hope. The foundation builds dozens of playsets for children who are undergoing treatment for cancer or who are recently in remission. Their philosophy is that kindness, fun, joy and love can play a huge role in helping a child recover.
In conjunction with our sister staffing company, Reliance, we’ve donated $4,800 to the Roc Solid Foundation over the past year, but we’re really excited about this weekend’s build. (We’ll post pictures and video of the build on Thursday.)
If you’d like to support the Roc Solid Foundation’s work, or you’d like to nominate a child recovering from cancer for a playset, you can do that on their website. And if you’d like to support Emma’s team in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night” fundraising walk, taking place this Thursday, please click here.
